Kiln Rental / Firing Services
Are you a ceramic artist in Pittsburgh looking for a place to fire your work? I offer space for rent in the studio’s electric kiln for cone 06 bisque and cone 6 glaze firings at the following rates:
$15 per half -shelf
one half shelf measures approximately 3ft x 4ft — the kiln can fit up to 4 full (8 half) shelves, with the potential for slightly more depending on the average height of your pieces.
$80 for full kiln rental
When filling out the contact form below, please estimate the amount of shelf space you’ll need based on the measurements listed above. When you arrive with your pots, we'll confirm the actual amount of space used to determine the final cost. Payment will be due after the firing is completed.
For glaze firings, please note: at this time, I am unable to offer glazing services, which means your work will need to be glazed and ready to load upon arrival. Glaze can easily be chipped or smudged in transit—I suggest bringing small quantities of backup glaze to patch with, in case this happens. I also ask that you provide some type of documentation showing what clay body and/or glazes were used (a picture of the box or bag label will suffice) to ensure the safety of both your work and our equipment during the firing.
