Information on Pottery Classes

The Building & Studio Space

My studio is located at 7800 Susquehanna St. in Wilkinsburg—a beautifully renovated 5-story warehouse that serves as “a hub for manufacturing, makers, and small businesses.” My studio is on the second floor, Suite 206 (across from Radiant Hall and Jowdy Studio, to name just a few of our awesome neighbors).

In addition to my studio mate’s and my own personal work stations, the set-up includes 8 throwing wheels (a mix of Shimpo and Brent models), work tables for hand-building and decorating, plus a designated area for glazing and firing. There’s an industrial sink at one end, with a cleaning station and communal reclaim bucket nearby.

Accessibility: There is a ramp leading from the spacious parking lot to the main entrance, with an elevator and stairs just inside. Communal gendered bathrooms are located on each floor of the building.

Group Classes

Throughout the year, I offer 6-week group pottery classes for individuals of all skill levels. Students have the opportunity to learn a variety of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, with an emphasis on creative self-direction. I’ll supply a versatile white stoneware clay body, as well as a selection of cone 6 glazes sourced locally from Standard Ceramics in Carnegie.

My approach to instruction is student-centered: whether you’re a curious beginner just looking to dip your toes, or an experienced potter eager to advance your craft, I’m here to help you achieve your goals—and have some fun along the way!
